Paper Revolver (2010)

These were some production stills taken during the shooting of my short western film. As you can see I chose to shoot the whole film in silhouette. This was done by hanging a large paper drop sheet from the roof of the studio and then we positioned the lighting behind the actors.  I like the sense of anonymity it creates. Rather than focussing on the actors facial features or costume details, the audience is forced to focus on the actions of these characters. I also like the vintage look it creates and because I shot on black and white reversal there is a thick grainy texture to the film.
